The Brain Injury Trust provides bedside care and counselling services for patients and their families.
The Brain Injury Trust provides bedside care and counselling services for patients and their families.
Our community-based service works to reintegrate brain-injury survivors into their families and communities.
In the hospital we also support and care for patients and their families during the dying process.
The Brain Injury Trust has evolved from the bedside service organisation, ComaCARE, which initially offered care and support to comatose patients and their families at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town. We have since grown into a fully fledged multi-service and community-based organisation. Our rebranding as The Brain Injury Trust reflects both our growth and the work we do in the communities that we serve.
The Brain Injury Trust is staffed by motivated individuals – including caregivers, health professionals, and family members. Our common goal is to improve the level of brain injury support and awareness in our society. We help patients, their family members and caregivers to understand traumatic brain injury and to get the help that they need. Our aim lies in building caring partnerships between all involved so that everyone can play an important role in the patient’s recovery or dying process. We currently operate in Cape Town and its surrounding communities.
